We are very pleased that the Journal of Palaeogeography, published with SpringerOpen, is now available for submission of high quality papers.
Palaeogeography is the study of ancient geography and is a multidisciplinary approach to analyzing problems of past Earth history. All aspects of geology may be included within the broad discipline of palaeogeography. The Journal of Palaeogeography (JoP) invites submissions of papers across this huge range.
JoP has a long history as a Chinese language journal and began an English language edition in 2012. After only 5 years the English edition is now an SCI-listed journal with an impact factor of 2.632. The Journal of Paleogeography also has 57 recent mentions on social media as tracked by Altmetric; and is also indexed in Scopus.
Palaeogeography is the study of ancient geography and is a multidisciplinary approach to analyzing problems of past Earth history.
All its past papers are available open access and no page charges are made. All submitted manuscripts are double-blind peer reviewed by at least two reviewers to maximize fairness in approach to scientific assessment of submitted work.
JoP encourages a wide range of topics for the benefit of authors and readers. Illustrations are very high quality, and authors are asked to submit manuscripts that are well-designed and easy to read, yet contain the highest levels of geological science. Thus we welcome manuscripts across this broad range, covering any topics in Earth science and through all of geological time; the only requirement is that there must be clear demonstration of an aspect of palaeogeography.
The editorial board is administered at the China University of Petroleum in Beijing and has an international membership of renowned geologists drawn from institutions worldwide, to assess papers across the broad sub disciplines of geology that include a palaeogeographic theme. Members of the editorial board work with authors to aim for production of very good papers. Approximately every four years, an international conference is held on the theme of palaeogeography, initiated by the editorial board of JoP, to provide a platform for face-to-face discussion and development of this theme.
